La Declaración Universal de los Derechos Humanos es una declaración adoptada por la Asamblea General de las Naciones Unidas el 10 de diciembre de 1948. La Declaración emergió directamente desde la experiencia de la Segunda Guerra Mundial y representa a la primera expresión de derechos a cuales todos seres humanos tienen derecho. Consiste de 30 artículos que han sido expandidos en diferentes tratados internacionales, instrumentos de derechos humanos, constituciones nacionales y leyes. La Carta Internacional de los Derechos Humanos incluye tanto la Declaración como el Covenento Internacional de Derechos Económicos, Sociales y Culturales y el Covenento Internacional de Derechos Civiles y Económicos y sus dos Protocolos Opcionales.

Conmemoración: Día Internacional de los Derechos Humanos
El día 10 de diciembre cada año se conoce como Día de los Derechos Humanos, y marca la adopción de la Declaración Universal.
